Cause

  Matthew 23:23

"Woe unto you , scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith; these ought ye to have done, and not leave the other undone."

God charged us, you and I that are saved, to preach and spread the Gospel to every nation.  Specifically, it is not our Gospel or theology that we are charged to spread.  The Gospel (Mt 4:23, 9:35, Mk 1:14), is that of the Kingdom of God.  In Acts 20:24, Paul refers to it as the Gospel of the Grace of God.  Surely, it is only by the Grace of God that any of us will step foot in such a holy place.

Jesus actually gave us the Gospel Outline in Matthew 23:23.  To spread or preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, our message is outlined by Christ as Judgment, Mercy, and Faith.  In the purest sense of the Scriptures, the Gospel of Salvation we so often tout is framed by these three points... Judgment, Mercy, and Faith.

Judgment - We can not escape it.  It will happen.  It is the division of those that are of God and those that are not.  No if, ands, or buts!  The result of judgment will be Spending Eternity Living, in Heaven, or Spending Eternity Dieing, in Hell.

Mercy - What Mercy, What Grace, What Love... my my, that God would so love me, that His ONLY Son would die for me to live, that God would so love me, to come to where I was, a sinner, and bring me under conviction, that I would repent determined by the strength of God to turn from my sins.

Faith - That's all, Salvation is by Faith (Mt 9:22, Lu 7:50, 8:42, 17:19, 18:42).  Salvation is not obtained by what we do, our works, our good deeds, our works of righteousness.  Galatians 2:16  "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

These three points resonate in virtually every message or writing by the patriarchs of recent Christian History despite their religious or denominational affiliation.  Men like Aurelius Augustine, Martin Luther, John Knox, John Calvin, Jeremy Taylor, Richard Baxter, John Bunyan, Jonathan Edwards, John Wesley, George Whitefield, and others, spread the Gospel in it's purest sense.  Their journals and sermons continuously reveal the purest outline of the Gospel of Salvation.  Judgment, Mercy, Grace... my how we have confounded the Gospel.  It is no wonder we don't see revival breaking out anymore.

They also recognized and practiced points of Christianity forgotten by time and laziness.

  1. Daily, hourly prayer.

  2. Daily, deep study.

  3. Daily, meditation and listening.

  4. Preaching the simple and pure Gospel (Judgment, Mercy, Faith).

  5. Teaching and Training converts as disciples.

  6. Sending out and launching another ministry.

The Cause of Gaius is to serve God by assisting in the spreading of the Gospel, and by providing physical, material, collateral, and spiritual assistance to Preachers, Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, and Christians whom realize and choose to follow the will of God in areas of propagating the Gospel and share like faith.
